BROADWAY IN EDUCATION

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR OUR 2009-2010 SEASON!!

DEADLINE: Friday, October 30, 2009

Click here to download the 2009-2010 Broadway in Education Application and FAQ’s.

Arts funding for area schools and non profit organizations is becoming more and more limited as our economy continues to struggle. As a part of the fantastic arts community in West Michigan, we feel it is important for students to continue to have enriching arts opportunities. For over 20 years, Broadway Grand Rapids has been bridging New York to West Michigan by presenting national Broadway tours in DeVos Performance Hall. While most of the community may solely recognize us for providing quality theatre to our community, we provide education to area students through our program called Broadway in Education.

The Broadway in Education program awards tickets to students for performances of our professional shows as a means to encourage their personal and academic success. We understand that many students have never had the opportunity to experience live theatre, and it is our goal to uniquely impact their lives by increasing their exposure to live Broadway productions. We are committed to strengthening our Broadway in Education program, and this year we are thrilled to introduce a workshop component in correlation with attending a Broadway show.

If you would like your organization to be considered for a scholarship from the Broadway in Education program, please fill out the application form and submit by Friday, October 30, 2009. Scholarships can be used for the Thursday 2:00pm matinee performances of Cirque Dreams Illumination (January 28, 2010), and The Color Purple (April 1, 2010). Please research the shows to see what would be the best fit for your organization.

We hope that you are as excited about this opportunity as we are, and we look forward to working with you this season. Please feel free to contact me directly at 616.235.6285 or jgrooms@bwaygr.org.
